Why did you choose Mestro?

“We wanted to be more data-driven! Yes, because it is all data-driven nowadays. Before Mestro, we had a system that was not as up-to-date as it could be. There was thus a need for more and better developed functionality, in order to really use the data we have put in. We had several times previously been in dialogue with Mestro, so the company was really in our minds when it came time to look for a new system. Although we were very attuned to Mestro, of course we checked out the market and double-checked that Mestro Portal had the features we needed.

Worth adding is that Mestro was also the nicest system we looked at, precisely because it did not feel like a spin-off of a rigid real estate system. A little more Google-like, if I can put it that way.”

What has been the biggest gain for you in working with Mestro Portal?

“Definitely, we can now engage more and thus save even more energy! Together with the team at Mestro, we are now setting up management reports that will go out to the managers by email and give them the latest status of their portfolio. They can then see which properties use the most, and which use the least, energy, and see how this relates to the goals set. In this way, we can get valuable information out to those who need it, when they need it. The reports will also make it easier for us to create and monitor internal energy-saving competitions between individual managers and different offices.

What will also be interesting is how Mestro will help us in energy saving projects. With the portal, we can now ensure that the process is even more detailed and goal-oriented, as we can monitor projects using exact dates. In the future, we hope to say that if we have district heating and replace it with a heat pump instead – then we will be able to make a forecast that “this property’s energy consumption will be reduced by x%” during this period. Then you can enter it as a forecast or set an alarm in Mestro, to make sure that you really monitor it. This is also fully in line with my department’s mission, i.e. “That every kilowatt-hour that we use is a well-spent kilowatt-hour.”

Mestro also enables more direct analyses and interventions. Take, for example, how the corona pandemic has affected the use of our properties. With the help of the portal, we have been able to look at office buildings where we know that the majority work from home, in order to optimise their use. By looking at the energy analysis, we have, among other things, been able to monitor that the ventilation system does not run more than is necessary. We have not put together what it has actually yielded yet, but there is a lot of money involved. We also have similar processes around our green buildings, as certifications are often based on many different calculations. We will also get these into Mestro, so that they can be automated.

We do all this in close co-operation with the team at Mestro, who deliver great support to us on a daily basis. Both the fact that you always recognise who you are talking to, and the fact that the answers come quickly, has given us a great deal of security. In addition, we are always well listened to in regard to ideas for new functionality. Although Mestro is a young company and we are a big player in the industry, I think we have got a very nice collaboration.”
