The trend towards green energy, the certification of electricity, and sustainable investment, has increased dramatically over the past decade \u2013 and 2021 is no exception. On the more prestigious Nasdaq stock exchange \u2013 where Tesla and Pfizer are traded, amongst others, the green labelling of the Nasdaq Green Equity Designation, aimed at companies where more than 50 percent of turnover derives from activities that are considered to be green, and whose investments are predominantly in green activities, will now be launched. Sales of fossil fuels should also be less than five per cent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Among the first to receive the label are two of<\/a> Mestro’s clients, K2A and Platzer. For the label, the companies have been audited by Nasdaq’s partner CICERO Shades of Green \u2013 and the results were, to say the least, right up there, with an 88% or higher share of green activities in all areas. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Karina Antin, Sustainability Manager at K2A, Congratulations \u2013 how does this feel?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2013 Of course, we are very pleased to receive further acknowledgment of our work on reducing our environmental impact and carbon footprint.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We understand that wood as a material has been one of the key features of your sustainability work. Please tell us more about it!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWood is a material that can readily be reused, i.e. it is an important part of a circular economy. The wood that we use is also free of hazardous chemicals, which partly benefits those who work with it in our factories and on our construction sites, and which partly also allows the wood to be reused. The process of getting the wood raw material that we build with, from harvesting a tree, cutting it in sawmills and transporting it to our factories, is not as energy intensive as many other building materials, which means that wood has, by comparison, a low carbon footprint during the production phase. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

And finally, what is the plan ahead?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2013 To begin with, we will reach our goal with our ongoing environmental certifications. In addition, during the year we will, amongst other things, develop targets for a reduced carbon footprint and lower energy use across our property portfolio.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
